- Waste Management: An area that has returned immediate results with a dedicated approach to reducing waste company wide. Empowering
departmental managers with directives that encourage waste to be managed. Identifying and understanding recyclable waste and measuring
systems that monitor the amount of waste correctly managed.
- Waste Procurement: A waste conscious approach to buying products that are sensitive and reactive to packaging and waste management overall,
PLUS identifying reductions and savings on incumbent items and revisiting our supply base to encourage reductions through the wholesale
chain.
- FUP: An efficient routing strategy that makes the most from routing delivery vehicles with the target of reduced fuel usage and encourage
customers to reduce their number of deliveries too. Drivers throughout the company are trained to SAFED guidelines encouraging more fuel
efficient driving techniques and reducing the company’s fuel contribution overall.
- Staff Awareness: Encouraging and promoting our Green Policy rather than enforcing changes. Energy savings and reductions are a social
responsibility that we encourage and have made changes to help staff understand and buy into. For instance: “Monitor Off” signage rather than
leave on standby, Laser printers defaulted to sleep-mode, Automated PIR lights with timer-off delays thus reducing energy usage. All designed
to make staff aware of social reductions they can do in the home and not just at work.
- Product Sourcing: Seeking to buy as local as possible with the carbon footprint always at the forefront. Encouraging, marketing and promoting
regional where possible. Utilising networks that assist with provenance purchases and encouraging caterers to promote local produce where
viable.
- Cardboard Box Renewal Scheme: Collection and reuse of dry cardboard boxes from our customer base and actively rewarding our delivery drivers
to collect and return good, dry boxes to the depots.
- Depot Recycling: From bailing card, recycling office paper to separating plastics all with the aim of recycling in every aspect of the depots.
- Supplier Awareness: From initial meeting to long standing relationships, enforcing our Green Policy statement of intent and promoting the
areas that we actively aim to reduce, reuse and recycle, we are encouraging our supply base to follow suit. Documenting suppliers commitment
to external bodies that promote Green Ethics.
